Each year the whales migrate past the east coast of Australia and drop into Jervis Bay over the last seven years Jervis Bay Whale Festival has been celebrating with the local community the whales.

The Jervis Bay Whale Festival (JBWF) started on a small scale with an event, the first "sea of whale tails" in 2007 with World Environment Day and World Ocean Day with IFAW’s National Day of Action that then continued as the National Whale Day.

Now expanding with events like Whale ID workshops, Whale photo competition, Whale count Day, Whale watch trip to be a researcher for a day and this year looks to be a great start to the seasons with a few early sighting of humpback whales in April and May.

"Sea of whale tails" has travelled to Whale Festivals up and down the east coast of Australia.
